While studying Psalm 2, one will see that it is addressed to the kings of the earth. The kings of the earth are told to “Kiss the Son".
The kings of the earth are basically told by God to acknowledge the rule of Jesus Christ over them. Of course, most world leaders today will reject the idea of acknowledging the rule of Jesus Christ over them. Most of them aren’t Christians, so why should they acknowledge a Christian “prophet” as ruler of them?
Read Psalm 2:2-3. God, speaking through King David, sees the contempt the kings of the earth have for His Son, and how they conspire against Him (even today). In Psalm 2:4 God laughs at their conspiracies against His Son because, despite it all, God has installed Jesus as King over them whether they like it or not (Read Psalm 2:8-9).
The kings of the earth (Presidents, Kings, Queens, Prime Ministers, etc) are told to “be wise and be warned” to serve the LORD with “fear, and rejoice with trembling”. They are told to, “Kiss the Son”.
Today, Psalm 2 will most likely be completely rejected by a vast majority of world leaders, and regular people as well; yet, bowing to Jesus, and kissing Him is what God wants all of mankind to do.
The bible shows that kings suffered for not acknowledging the Lord as the ultimate Ruler over them. God said to Pharaoh of Egypt that He raised him up into power for a purpose that would bring glory to God (Exodus 9:15-16 and Romans 9: 17) . Pharaoh refused to cooperate and suffered for it.
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon lost his mind for seven years when he refused to recognize that he was put into his position of power by the Lord (Daniel 4), and his son, King Belshazzar, saw the hand writing on the wall just before he lost his life because of his arrogant mocking of the Lord (Daniel 5).
Finally, King Herod was eaten by worms when he took the praises of men who called him a "god", and did not glorify the only true God (Acts 12: 20-23).

King David of Israel is an example of a highly successful king who put all of his faith in the Lord. David prophesied about Jesus Christ throughout the Psalms. He called Christ his Lord in Psalm 110:1-4 (read also Acts 2: 29-35). The Lord blessed David's reign because of his faithfulness.
Leaders of the earth, put away your pride and kiss the Son.
