Article One: The Authority of Christ Over Authorities

All world leaders have a Higher Authority over them.  Whether they like it or not, that Higher Authority is Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 11:27, Jesus said, "All things have been committed to Me by My Father."

In  Matthew 28:17,  Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me."  God has placed Jesus Christ on the eternal throne that is above all other thrones.

Revelation 1:5 says that Jesus is "the Ruler of  the kings of the earth ."

In Psalm 2, the kings of the earth are told to "Kiss the Son". Jesus is the Son of God, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the ultimate Judge and Ruler over all of mankind.

Colossians 2:10 says Jesus is "the Head over every power and authority".  He is over  kings, queens, prime ministers, presidents, mayors, emperors, governors, and dictators, etc. They are ultimately accountable to Him.

No world leader comes to power outside of God's will.

All world leaders are placed in office by God and are eventually removed from office by God. Read Romans 13: 1-7 and Titus 3: 1-2. In the New Testament, Jesus told Pilate that his (Pilate's) authority came from God (Read John 19:11).

Rulers pretend to forget this and become proud. Because of pride, many rulers are taken out of office by the Lord.

King Nebuchadnezzar's great power and authority was given to him by the LORD. This is what the LORD said to the envoys of world kings through the prophet, Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 27:4-5,

"This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Tell your masters:
With My great power and outstretched arm, I made the earth
and its people, and animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.' "

The LORD went on to announce in the following verses that Nebuchadnessar would be given power to subdue other nations and kings, and he did.

Later, King Nebuchadnezzar found out the hard way Who really was in charge when, in his arrogance, he boasted and bragged about his own power and glory.  His son, Belshazzar, who came to the throne after him also found out who was in charge (Read Daniel 2:21 and Daniel Chapters 4 through Daniel 5:31) .

In the new testament, when King Herod was praised and called a "god" by the people, and he took their praise and failed to give the true God the glory. God saw to it that he died a terrible death (Read Acts 12:19-23).

It is advisable for all world leaders to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Head over them.
